Pare Dating – Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: December 2025

Pare Dating Inc. ("Pare," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to building the safest dating platform for adults 40+. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use our website, mobile app, and related services (collectively, the "Platform").

We built Pare to protect the generation that protected us. That begins with transparency about what we collect and why.

By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in four main categories:

  • Information you provide directly
  • Information collected automatically
  • Safety, verification, and intelligence data
  • Reports, feedback, and moderation data

A. Information You Provide Directly

We collect information you choose to share with us when you create an account, complete onboarding, interact with other members, or contact us.

Account & Contact Information

  • Name (first and last)
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Password or authentication credentials (hashed/encrypted)
  • Location (for example, city, state/province, country)
  • Optional physical address (for identity/eligibility verification, where applicable)

Profile Information

To build your Pare profile and help us understand who you are and who you're looking for, you may provide:

  • Age and date of birth
  • Gender and who you are interested in dating
  • Relationship goals and preferences
  • Lifestyle and family details (for example, children, smoking or drinking habits, pets)
  • Personality descriptions and "how others see you" content
  • Interests, hobbies, work and education information, and other self-descriptions you choose to share

Dating & Lifestyle Details (Sensitive Information)

You may also choose to provide information that can be considered "special category" or sensitive personal data in some jurisdictions, including:

  • Sexual orientation and preferences (who you are interested in dating)
  • Religion or beliefs
  • Political alignment or views
  • Health or accessibility information, if you choose to share it in your profile or communications
  • Relationship history or status (for example, divorced, widowed)

We only use this information:

  • To provide and improve the Pare service (for example, compatibility, matching, and personalization); and
  • To support trust, safety, and fraud prevention.

Where required by law (for example, in the EU/EEA, UK, and some other locations), we rely on your explicit consent to process this sensitive information. You can withdraw this consent at any time by updating your profile or contacting us, but doing so may limit your ability to use certain features of the Platform.

Photos, Media, and Voice

To help other members get to know you, you may upload:

  • Profile and gallery photos
  • Other images or media related to your profile
  • If enabled, audio or voice recordings (for example, voice onboarding, voice notes, or live/recorded sessions)

We process this media to display your profile, support matching, and help prevent fraud, impersonation, and use of fake or stolen images.

Government-Issued ID and Verification Data

To help keep Pare safe, we may ask you to complete identity verification. This may include:

  • Full legal name
  • Date of birth
  • Government ID document (for example, driver's license, passport, or national ID)
  • ID metadata (for example, ID number, expiration date, issuing entity)
  • Live selfie or biometrics for identity matching, where required by our verification providers

This verification is typically performed using third-party identity verification providers. Where required, we obtain your consent before processing these documents and biometric data.

Criminal Record and Eligibility Checks

With your explicit consent and where permitted by law, we may collect and process information from criminal record and background checks, including:

  • Basic criminal records
  • Public court records
  • Watchlist checks
  • Information verifying that you are legally eligible to participate on the Platform

These checks are conducted via accredited third-party providers in Canada, the United States, and/or other relevant jurisdictions.

Content and Communications

We process the content you share on Pare, such as:

  • Messages and conversations with other members
  • Messages with Pare staff and our date concierge (for example, about scheduling, venues, or rescheduling)
  • Responses to questionnaires, onboarding flows, and "speak to us" prompts
  • Feedback forms, reviews, and surveys
  • Safety reports, complaints, and interactions with our support and trust & safety teams

We use this content to operate the service, support safety and moderation, and improve member experience.

Payment and Subscription Information (if applicable)

If you purchase a subscription or other paid features, we (or our payment processor) may collect:

  • Payment card details (handled by the payment processor, not stored by us in full)
  • Billing address and country
  • Transaction history and amount
  • Limited card metadata (for example, last 4 digits, card type, and expiration month/year)

We use this information to process payments, manage subscriptions, and comply with legal and accounting obligations.

B. Information We Collect Automatically

When you access or use the Platform, we automatically collect certain information, including:

  • Device information: device type, operating system, browser type, IP address, device settings, device identifiers.
  • Usage information: pages or screens viewed, features used, time spent, dates and times of access, referring URLs, and interaction data (for example, clicks and scrolls).
  • Log data: technical logs for security, debugging, and performance monitoring.
  • Cookies and similar technologies:
    • Necessary cookies for login, security, and core functionality
    • Analytics cookies to understand usage patterns and improve the Platform

We do not use your information for third-party targeted advertising or sell your browsing data.

C. Safety, Verification & Intelligence Data

Because Pare focuses on a high-trust, over-40 community, we use a layered safety and verification approach. With your consent where required, we may collect and process:

1. Phone Number Intelligence

We may verify:

  • Number validity
  • Carrier and region
  • Line type (mobile, landline, VoIP)
  • Public social media or digital footprint associated with the number
  • Geographic consistency with profile information

Red flags may include invalid numbers, VoIP-only lines used for scams, or clear geographic inconsistencies.

2. Name + Location Cross-Reference

We may compare your provided name and location against publicly available or lawfully licensed records. Example sources include:

  • People-search services (for example, Whitepages, Spokeo, TruePeopleSearch, FastPeopleSearch, Radaris)
  • Public social media platforms (for example, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram)
  • Public directories and open web data

From this, we may infer or confirm:

  • Addresses and regions historically associated with you
  • Approximate age range
  • Associated phone numbers
  • Publicly listed relatives or household members
  • General online footprint

We do not contact your relatives, employers, or other third parties using this information.

3. Reverse Image Search

To protect against catfishing and impersonation, we may use automated and manual image-matching tools to detect:

  • Stolen, reused, or stock photos
  • Professional model imagery presented as personal photos
  • Conflicting identities linked to the same image

Sources scanned may include major social platforms and public web search engines. We only use publicly accessible or properly licensed tools.

4. Breach Database Analysis

Through services such as DeHashed and similar providers, we may securely check whether your email or phone number appears in known data breaches, including:

  • Number of breached datasets
  • Whether passwords were exposed (we never use or store exposed passwords)
  • Associated usernames or aliases
  • Historical patterns of compromise

We use this to help detect fraudulent accounts, protect you from account takeover, and notify you where appropriate. Pare does not store or use raw passwords from breach databases.

5. Confidence Scoring

We may calculate an internal Verification Confidence Score (for example, from 0.0 to 1.0) based on factors like:

  • Consistency of information across sources
  • Digital footprint completeness
  • Absence or presence of known risk indicators

This score is used internally by our trust & safety team. It is not shown to other members and does not by itself guarantee approval or rejection of an account.

6. Red Flag Detection

Our systems may automatically flag patterns such as:

  • Absence of any plausible online presence
  • Invalid or suspicious phone numbers
  • Geographically inconsistent information
  • Reverse image mismatches or likely stock photos
  • Heavy reliance on VoIP numbers
  • Evidence of recently created or mass-created accounts
  • Email or phone found in multiple breach datasets with high risk

Flags are used only for safety review, fraud prevention, and eligibility assessments.

7. Sources May Change

The specific vendors and public sources we use for safety and verification may change over time as we improve the Platform. We only use:

  • Publicly available information
  • Information you provide to us
  • Information obtained from providers that are contractually bound to process data lawfully and securely

D. Reports, Feedback & Moderation Data

To keep Pare safe and respectful, we also process:

  • Reports and complaints submitted by members about other members
  • Information about blocks, mutes, and other safety actions
  • Notes, tags, and outcomes from our trust & safety investigations
  • Records of account warnings, suspensions, and closures

We use this information to detect patterns of harmful behavior, enforce our policies, and improve safety for the community.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Platform
    • Create and manage your account and profile
    • Enable discovery and matching with other members
    • Display your profile, photos, and preferences
  • Verify your identity and eligibility
    • Perform ID verification and, where applicable, criminal record checks
    • Confirm you meet our eligibility criteria (for example, age, legal eligibility, geographic requirements)
  • Promote safety and prevent fraud
    • Detect and prevent fraud, impersonation, romance scams, and other malicious activity
    • Detect and investigate violations of our Terms, Community Guidelines, or applicable law
    • Evaluate verification signals, red flags, and confidence scores (with human oversight for significant decisions)
  • Facilitate communication and date concierge services
    • Enable messaging between members
    • Provide date concierge assistance (for example, venues, timing, logistics)
    • Send confirmations, reminders, and updates related to matches and dates
  • Improve and personalize the Platform
    • Analyze usage trends and performance
    • Develop new features and experiences
    • Personalize recommendations and discovery (for example, who you see first), including by using safety and verification signals internally – but without exposing these scores or signals to other users
  • Communicate with you
    • Send service-related messages (for example, security alerts, account updates, changes to terms or policies)
    • Provide safety tips, onboarding guidance, and feature updates
    • Where permitted, send optional marketing or promotional communications (with the ability to opt out)
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations
    • Maintain records required by law
    • Respond to valid legal requests
    • Enforce our agreements and policies

We do not use our verification, safety, or intelligence data for advertising or resale.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR / UK / Canada / Similar Laws)

Where applicable (for example in the EU/EEA, UK, and certain other regions), we process personal information on the following legal bases:

  • Consent
    • ID document and biometric verification
    • Criminal record and eligibility checks
    • Use of certain cookies or analytics where required
    • Processing of sensitive/special-category data (for example, religion, sexual preferences, political views), where required by law
  • Contract performance
    • To provide the services you sign up for, including creating your account, matching, messaging, and concierge support
  • Legitimate interests
    • To maintain the safety and integrity of the Platform
    • To prevent and detect fraud, abuse, and security incidents
    • To improve and develop the Platform and user experience
    • To respond to your requests and support inquiries

We balance these interests against your rights and reasonable expectations.

  • Legal obligations
    • To comply with applicable laws (for example, financial recordkeeping, responding to lawful requests from authorities, and eligibility requirements)

You may withdraw consent at any time, where our processing is based on consent. Doing so may affect your ability to use certain features or to continue using the Platform.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or broker your personal information.

We may share your information with the following categories of recipients:

A. Trusted Third-Party Service Providers

We work with carefully selected partners who help us operate the Platform, including:

  • Analytics, performance monitoring, and crash-reporting services
  • Communication providers (for emails, in-app messages, SMS, push notifications)

  • Where we believe disclosure is necessary to detect, prevent, or respond to fraud, security incidents, or illegal activity
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of Pare, our users, or the public, as permitted by law

We do not voluntarily share data with law enforcement or other authorities in the absence of a valid legal basis.

C. Business Transfers

If Pare is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections and continued respect for this Privacy Policy or successor policies that provide equal or greater protection.

5. Cookies, Analytics & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you logged in and maintain session security
  • Remember your preferences
  • Understand how members use the Platform so we can improve it

We may use analytics tools (for example, privacy-conscious analytics and performance monitoring services) to understand aggregate usage patterns. We do not:

  • Use third-party advertising networks on the Platform, or
  • Share your personal information with third parties for their own targeted advertising.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Depending on your location, we may present a cookie banner or consent tool that lets you control non-essential cookies.

6. Automated Decision-Making & Profiling

We use automated systems (such as confidence scoring and red-flag detection) to help us:

  • Identify potential fraud, impersonation, and safety risks
  • Prioritize accounts for human review by our trust & safety team
  • Maintain the security and integrity of our Platform

These tools support, but do not fully replace, human decision-making. Significant decisions affecting your account (for example, permanent suspension or rejection after verification) include human review.

If we make a decision about your account that is based significantly on automated processing and that you believe is incorrect, you can contact us at privacy@paredating.com to request an explanation or human review, subject to applicable law.

  • To provide and maintain your account and the Platform
  • To comply with legal, tax, and regulatory requirements
  • To resolve disputes and enforce our agreements
  • To support trust & safety investigations and prevent repeat abuse

  • Messages and content: retained while your account is active and for a limited period after closure if needed for safety, dispute resolution, or legal purposes.
  • Verification and background check data: we typically retain summary results (for example, "verified"/"not verified," date, provider) and relevant risk indicators for as long as necessary for safety and for up to a defined period (for example, up to 5 years) after account closure, unless a longer retention period is required by law or necessary to resolve ongoing issues.
  • Logs and analytics data: retained for shorter periods needed for security, diagnostics, and analysis, then aggregated or anonymized.
